“As if your desire, so is your will. As is your will, so is your deed. As is you deed, so is you destiny.” ~ The Unpanishads
At the end of this month, I’m running a vision boarding session for my book group. It’s one of my favourite tools for both my clients and also for myself. It brings you clarity around what it is you truly desire. Here are 5 reason why you need a vision board in your life!
- They get it out of your head and into reality
The song that started to swirl around in my head as I wrote this, was the Billy Ocean song ‘Get out of my head, get into my car’. However, I will go for a re-mix and change the lyrics to ‘Get out of my head and onto my vision board!’ Next big hit do you think? Mmmmmmmmmmm maybe not!
All things in life were once a thought, including you! It’s the start of the process of thoughts becoming things. When you write things down or make a vision board, you’re kicking off the manifesting process. It also allows you get clear on what it is you truly want. I stress truly here, because it’s rarely the material things (although they are very nice to have!). The true desire is a feeling. Which leads me to my next point….
- They evoke the feelings that you want
“Knowing how you actually want to feel is the most potent form of clarity that you can have. Generating those feelings is the most powerfully creative things you can do with your life.” ~ Danielle LaPorte
I always encourage the feelings to be captured on a vision board. What feeling is it that you believe that thing or experience will bring you? When you are creating a vision board, you are really tapping into those feeling. You are creating a visual of how you want to feel. Looking at the board will also draw you into those feelings and allow you to feel them now.
Your feelings are the bridge between where you are now and where you want to be. You don’t need to wait because you can have the feelings NOW and be happy with where you are NOW. Capture the feelings and create them and you are already there!
- They serve as visual reminder
Your subconscious mind uses pictures and symbols, so a vision board really speaks to that and taps into it. Even if you don’t know what the hell you want, then simply looking at pictures and seeing what resonates and arouses a feeling in your body is powerful. Your heart knows exactly what you want, even if your brain doesn’t yet!
Your brain also doesn’t know the difference between real and imaginary. It’s why visualisation works. Sometimes I struggle to visualise and looking at a vision board can trigger off a lovely day dream and I’m there and all those lovely feelings are being generated.
That is the key to the Law of Attraction and also the Desire Map. Feeling good is the primary intention!
- They open you up to opportunities
Simply day dreaming all the time will not turn your vision into reality though. Hoping that things will happen is not a good strategy. You actually have to DO something! Vision boards can sometimes almost seem to have a magical element to them. Opportunities appear and you start to notice things that will help you along your path. Synchronicities can occur.
Looking at a vision board activates your brain to notice things that are related to your vision. It also sends out a powerful intention into the universe. This is opening you up to opportunities and to become the type of person that grabs those opportunities by the short n curly’s, when they are presented to you! That is why I much prefer setting intentions and visions rather than goals.
“Goals are measureable. Goals are things you try to grab or achieve or GET. Intention is bigger in some indefinable way. Intention is a calling forth and it is done with clarity and sometimes even trepidation because you know that, in the very setting of the intention, you will be called to become something more expanded that you are now” ~ Christine Kane
- They help you tap into your intuition
As I’ve already mentioned, your heart (which can also be called your soul) already knows what it wants. Vision boarding open up the space to allow your intuition to come though and guide you. Allowing yourself to select pictures that really resonate, even if you are not sure why or what they mean, will guide you to what you truly desire.
My last vision board has a lot of images of bird flying, butterflies and floating bubbles. It was tapping into my desire of freedom and feeling light but also of allowing myself really to really ‘take off’ in my business and life. You can see a picture of it on my blog here where I also talk about how to manifest using the Chakras as a blueprint.
So there you have it, 5 reasons why you need a vision board. I would love to know, do have a vision board? What do you think of them? Do you have any vision board success stories? Let me know in the comments below!
